Aphrodite's Organic Café & Pie Shop (Kitslano)

I haven't seen Mich for a long long time - too long that I couldn’t remember when was the last time. As we were arranging for our brunch meet up, I picked Aphrodite since I've been wanting to pay a visit for a while.

The little café was already packed with people by the time I arrived. At the entrance, there was a nicely craved sign on the table display. Inside the café, there were tons of piñata hanging down from the ceiling. Some were actually quite funny looking. We were lucky that we didn't have to wait for long.



Smoked Sockeye Salmon Benny ($18) - 5/6

The bennies came with smoked salmon, roasted potato and refreshing mixed green salad on the side. The half cooked egg yolk blended nicely with the hollandaise sauce and caper. It was a very rich and fulfilling dish.

Harvest Vegetarian Chili ($12) - n/a

Mich went with the vegetarian chili and said was very hearty (and it looked very hearty as well).

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie ($7.25) - 5.5/6

I didn't want to leave without trying their pie so we shared one together. It was nicely decorated with 2 cinnamon powdered hearts on the side. The pie wasn't overly sweet and definitely filled with strawberry and rhubarb. It put a happy ending to our meal.

I brought back the "Wild Mushroom Quiche" for Greeny and it was very good (as he said). Probably because the ingredients used are organic, the price seemed to go along with it. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable meal and I would definitely want to head back and try other things.
