Located right next to Smoke’s Pourtinerie on Granville, Greeny and I also wanted to check this place out. The last time I saw Harvey’s was the little counter store at Home Depot. I’m not even sure if it is still there.
The Granville location is quite spacious with a light wooden tone for its interior. Interestingly, I found it to be a bit darker than other fast food chains. Apparently they just started operation back in the end of last November. No wonder it still looks quite new.
|Great Canadian Burger / Frings|
The Great Canadian Burger has a thicker patty than the Original. They started grilling the patty after we placed the order so it took a while. We were also asked about what garnishments and condiments we want to put in the burger. This was what they called “Made the way you want it”. Since we controlled the overall flavour, I didn’t think it would be fair to comment on it. The patty itself was quite juicy with the charcoal grilled aroma. The bun was soft and I found the bottom part was a little thinner. Somehow it reminded me of the burgers at Vera’s.
We upgraded our combo with Frings, which were basically fries and onion rings. The fries had a thin but crispy coating; it has a different potato taste than the ones at McD. The onion rings, on the other hand, was quite thin. I personally would prefer the thicker type.
I thought the burger was alright; it’s not really gourmet but a bit different than the other fast food chains in terms of you get to make it the way you want it. I guess I’m not entirely sold by its taste so I probably wouldn’t be coming back soon.
